Tellman Knudson’s Easy Traffic Steps Review – 20 Weeks Tried and tested Traffic Blueprint

What is easy Traffic Steps? Is it a Scam? I will answer these 2 question in this review. But let me first touch on the subject of traffic briefly.

Traffic – the lifeblood of all websites – is one thing you always want if you have a blog or website. Because in the world of online business, Traffic = $$$. However, this is not exactly true!

The Truth is “Continual Streams of Traffic + Conversion = $$$”. That’s the right formula!

I don’t think I need to stress too much about the importance of the above formula, perhaps anyone who has a website or blog already knows that.

The question is HOW? How do you get a stream of continual traffic that will convert into cash?

That’s what the easy Traffic Steps is all about. It’s a complete course that will teach you 20 proven traffic generation methods, 1 each week, for 20 weeks. The reason why the course is broken into 20 weeks is because the entire lessons are too big or overwhelming if you’re to learn everything in one week.

The best part of the Easy Traffic Steps course is that everyone (whether you’re new or experienced) can easily learn how to drive traffic to their websites or blogs from day 1. As mentioned, you not only learn how to drive traffic but also how to convert those traffic into sales.

From day 1, besides learning how to get more visitors to your website or blog, you will also learn how to sell more products or services to your visitors and the strategy of how to do up-sales and cross-sales (think about the integration marketing strategy used by McDonald’s). I learn quite a lot on how to increase the number of visitors to my site even from day 1.

Another thing I like about the Easy Traffic Steps course is that it’s very organized and hence makes the course very easy to digest. If your intention is to get more targeted traffic to your website or blog, this course is worth checking out. It’s definitely not a scam.

However, you do need to be patient with the course as it stretches for 20 weeks. I suggest you just follow the formula laid out by the course step-by-step. Just make sure you learn and understand one method and then implement it for one week, one at a time. There is no need to be rush really, because building a continual stream of traffic that converts well does need some time.

You’ve got to do it right from the beginning so that you don’t waste your time building up useless or untargeted traffic that can not convert. That’s why I urge you to just follow the flow or instructions outlined by the Easy Traffic Steps course.

Closing Comments:

Easy Traffic Steps is a very well organized traffic generation course. This course can benefit anyone who has a website or blog and want to know how to generate more traffic and more sales the right way.

However, perhaps one unpleasant thing about this product is the fact that it stretches out for 20 weeks (that’s about 5 months). I know it’s kind of long…. but trust me on this…. if you stick with the course, you could have save time in the log run. Many people spend years trying to generate traffic to their sites by going through the trial and error methods. But, most still Fail to get traffic that converts well.

Hope you find my review and some of the advices useful. Good Luck in driving lots of traffic to your website. Thanks for reading.

Fighting the “Traffic Monopoly”

Every day, people conduct millions of searches using the major search engines & those visitors end up somewhere. The raw numbers indicate that in just about every market, somebody must be making money from that traffic, & as you’ll see below, it’s often only 3 or 4 sites that get most of it…

So, how do you break off a piece for yourself?

The key to increasing your website traffic lies in using a combination of techniques. But, developing quality inbound links is a critical aspect in that mix. And once you fully comprehend how powerful links are in the “free traffic game, ” you’ll be well on your way to generating Thousands of extra visitors that are currently headed to your competition…

I. 181 Million A day.

First, let’s back out some numbers to show you the amount of free traffic that goes up for grabs every day…

According to the stats (copy & paste: “searchenginewatch.com/2156461” in your browser), there were roughly 213,000,000 searches conducted a DAY in 2006. And, I’d bet that traffic levels have increased since then: More people now seem to be comfortable using search engines to find information vs. traditional offline information sources.

If you estimate that only 15% of searches result in a click of a PPC ad… then, how much “free” search engine traffic is there…? Let’s do the math:

213, 000, 000 X 85% = 181, 050, 000 in daily natural (non-PPC) search engine traffic. So, where are those 181 million visitors going & why aren’t you getting your fair share?

In most markets, the answer lies in cracking the “traffic monopoly”….

II. The Unfair Advantage.

“What monopoly? ” you ask…

This one:

Take 60 seconds & open “Compete.com” in a new window.
Now, look at your top ranked competitors’ traffic levels. What do you see?
You’ll see that in most markets, 3 or 4 sites are probably getting 80% or more of the traffic. These 3 or 4 sites often appear to have a formed a sort of “traffic monopoly”…
Pretty shocking, isn’t it? If only a handful of sites get most of the visitors, this leaves the other 99% of webmasters to fight for the leftovers…

III. What About PPC?

Pay per click can be a very effective means of driving traffic & it should be part of your overall marketing strategy. One of the big benefits of PPC is that it’s FAST. If you’ve got the money, you can generate thousands of visitors in less than 24 hours using PPC. This is in contrast to natural search engine traffic which can often take 6 months to really develop…

However, it’s also Very easy to lose money in PPC. In fact, in some markets (Satellite tv comes to mind), single companies are rumored to spend more than $250, 000 a month on PPC!

Yikes… That’s some pretty serious competition…

Since PPC is a MASSIVE topic all to its own & is far beyond the scope of this article, let’s stick to discussing free traffic techniques…

IV. A search engine Optimization Primer.

In just about every market online, there are people trying to get their sites ranked higher in the search engines. This is called “search engine optimization” (A. K. A. ” SEO”). Search engine optimization was developed during the 1990s & there is a TON of information about it online (to learn more, visit seochat.com & seobook.com – 2 of the biggest SEO sites currently).

Professional search engine optimization companies can charge $5, 000. 00 – $10, 000. 00 for a optimization… But, for a lot of businesses, the return on SEO can be huge. For example, if your average account size is $50, 000 & an optimization brings in just new 3 customers a year… that’s $150, 000 in revenues from a $10, 000 investment. Compared to most other advertising (which SEO can almost be considered), SEO can be a pretty good deal…

Some of the major SEO techniques are:

In Depth Keyword Research.
Search Engine ‘Bot’ Friendly HTML.
Title & Header (H1, H2, H3) Tags Optimization.
Meta Tags Optimization.
Internal Linking Structure Optimization.
Monthly SEO Maintenance & Adjustment…
And many more… As you might imagine, the interplay of just these 6 factors alone can get very confusing & it really does take an experienced SEO to optimize a site correctly.

V. A “2 For 1” Deal.

Besides the “on page” factors mentioned above, search engines also heavily value inbound links in order to rank sites… The theory is that a site with 40 or 50 inbound links containing specific anchor text should rank higher than a site with only 25 similar inbound links… This is fairly common knowledge… But inbound links from related sites really have a DOUBLE “traffic benefit. ” In other words, links from the right sites are often a “2 for 1” deal & here’s why…

VI. Cashing In Twice On Free Traffic.

Building quality inbound links from sites with similar content is critical to increasing your site’s traffic because besides helping your site rank higher in the search engines, quality inbound links also send traffic by themselves too… Extra “link traffic” that is completely independent of search engines… After all, most web surfers spend most of their time clicking from site to site by means of the connecting links… not from repeatedly searching…

Thus, links have a “double traffic” benefit:

From the increased search engine rankings that they produce.
From the visitors coming from the links themselves.
The right links will send a consistent stream of visitors 24 hours a day like clockwork & the traffic just keeps coming, even if search engines didn’t exist. Furthermore, depending on the site, this independent link traffic can be very lucrative too…

VII. Links Mean Money.

To give you an example, I currently own a site that maintains a #3 ranking for a specific keyword phrase in one of the top 3 search engines. The site has high quality original content & many other sites link to it because they are happy to “recommend it, ” in the form of link, to their site visitors.

Every week, that #3 position alone generates Hundreds of visitors.

But, one of the independent sites linking in sends it a consistent stream of 7 visitors day too…

Those extra 7 visitors would cost real cash to get through PPC… at 45cents a click, that’s the equivalent of saving $3. 15 a day, which is $1, 149. 75 annually. And that’s just from a single link! 10 more links of that quality would be $11, 497. 50 in annual savings… Furthermore, while it’s difficult to estimate the contribution, that link is surely ALSO partially responsible for my #3 search engine position & the traffic that ranking generates day after day… This is almost a PERFECT example of the “2: 1” effect described above.

I think you are getting the picture of how powerful the right links can be…

VIII. The Critical Takeaway.

The critical takeaway here is this:

Besides “on page” factors, having the right mixture of quality targeted inbound links can increase a site’s traffic in several ways. They’ll boost search engine rankings SKY HIGH & sometimes produce a steady stream of independent traffic too…

Strive to develop a solid foundation of anchor text-rich inbound links from sites with similar content. Sites that already have high volumes of targeted traffic are optimal…

Getting the right amount of quality links will help you chip away at the “traffic monopoly” in any market…

Now that you’ve got the info, all you’ve got to do is go break off a piece of that traffic for yourself.

Good luck…

Life is Good With Traffic Lights

The red traffic light is the simplest of instruction in our life. As soon as you see it, the body reacts automatically. There are many types of traffic lights to guide cars and pedestrians on the road. But can you find such signals within you to guide you through the journey of life? It’s a feel-good article.

I was speeding towards a crossing trying to beat the green traffic light. But the lights changed and the red light stared at my face. I slammed the breaks and stopped the car. A fast car sped from left to right. If i had not stopped, I would have surely been hit by that car. My heart raced. Fortunately there was no other car at the back to hit me from behind as i came abruptly to a halt. As i regained my composure, I reflected on the event. I thanked the red light for stopping me just in time.

What would the world be like without the red light? It would be in complete chaos. The simple invention has brought so much order and safety to the civilized World! I decided to probe the internet for the origin and history of the humble traffic light.

I found that the traffic lights were an invention of a Railway engineer JP Knight who first fitted his red/green gas-light traffic signal at the top of Parliament Square in London as far back as in 1868! In the us of A, William Potts, a police officer in Detroit put up the first electric traffic lights in 1920! And it was 12 years later in 1932 that London got its first set of modern traffic lights.

The traffic lights were meant to allow right of way to the vehicular traffic alternately to different directions. The simple system gave a cue to the drivers when to stop and when to proceed. But in places where the traffic was heavy, the pedestrians found it difficult to cross. The crossing paths across road junctions were painted in black and white stripes for the pedestrians to walk. On this strip, called the Zebra Crossing, the vehicles had to stop to give right of way to the walkers. But where the pedestrians were numerous they had a time slot of their own with “Walk” / “Don’t Walk” lights at pedestrian crossings.

Soon there were many innovations for the pedestrian crossing signals. In England, they were known after the names of birds! Where the pedestrians were infrequent they could activate the “Walk” sign by pressing a button. This was named a “Pelican” crossing for the lights mounted on the opposite side of the road and “Puffin” crossing where the lights were mounted on the same side of the road. To facilitate cyclists along with pedestrians, a “Toucan” crossing was introduced. The horse riders were also not left behind; they had the facility of the “Pegasus” crossing which had a button placed high up on a pole for the rider to press!

Sometimes when there not a single car anywhere in sight, the red light seems like a tyrant bullying you to wait for no reason. Should we become slaves of such idiot machines? But this too is changing as the controllers of traffic lights are being programmed with sensors to make the green light come on faster when there is a dearth of traffic. The lights give the drivers a false sense of security and they speed up their vehicles through the green light. This is dangerous on sparse traffic conditions as there may be a driver on the cross road who impatiently jumps the red light and causes an accident.

Traffic lights could be oppressive in crowded conditions as well. In very crowded areas like a hustling and bustling city centre, the traffic is always slow and the traffic lights are a real nuisance. The lights hinder traffic more than facilitate it. Traffic planners are realizing that it may be better to restore the traffic management to humans. In some traffic conditions the eye contact between the drivers and the pedestrians may be a better way of giving way to one another. This is proved in the Dutch town of Drachten where in 2004, the road signs and traffic lights were taken down as a part of ‘Naked Street’ experiment. Natural cautious negotiation between the motorists, cyclists and the walkers govern the streets and the number of accidents has reduced remarkably!

The new awakening has found its roots in England too! The council of Kensington and Chelsea was the first to remove traffic lights to forge modern ‘shared streetscapes’ where eye contact between motorists and simple common sense can do away with a ‘clutter’ of bollards and barriers, traffic lights, street signs, and speed cameras. The council has succeeded in turning the Exhibition Road into an open ‘naked street’ for cars and pedestrians by ‘decluttering’ of the Kensington High street. They have pulled down the railings, removed the curbs and signs. They have however added bicycle islands and mini-roundabouts. The result is vastly reduced accidents! It shows that there is a built in regulator within us.

But for most of the roads with moderate traffic and without many pedestrians, the traffic lights will reign for a long time to come. The red light tells you to stop. It is the simplest form of instruction. I wish there were many more red lights in other forms of human activity. I wish there was a red light to signal a stop to those who have had a drink too many!

Do you have a red light which shines when you are doing something wrong? If you open your heart and search for it, you may find the red light of your conscience to guide you! It is such a good feeling to find that there is a decision signal on the journey of our life! And to me the good old red and green lights are more than just traffic controllers. They help you to find more within you. They are a blessing in disguise for a warm and secure wellness of our being!

Generate Quality Website traffic

Generating traffic to your web site is a very challenging problem. There are a number of ways in which this can be achieved. For instance, you can try classified ads. This procedure still works quite well, although it may not be the best way to attract web visitors. A sound strategy for targeted traffic should definitely not leave out article marketing. This too is a great way to generate website traffic. A blog is also considered to be helpful in the process of creating web traffic. Email marketing and the submission of your web sites to several search engines should not be overlooked either. But what happens if you have already tried all of these steps towards generating traffic and you are still not satisfied with the number of visitors to your web site? If it makes you feel any better, you should know that there are a lot of other web sites that are faced with the problem of having to generate website traffic and come up with more effective ways of accomplishing this than the solutions mentioned above. The best answer to traffic generation problem is buying web site traffic.

“Why would I buy traffic? ” is a very legitimate question. After all, why buy visitors to your web site, when you can generate traffic for free? The answer is very simple. In most cases, free traffic is not nearly as effective as paid traffic. Targeted visitors come with a series of benefits that you can only enjoy if you choose to buy traffic. Many business owners underestimate or fail to fully understand the importance of targeted traffic. Generating traffic is important, but if your visitors are not targeted, the chances of them actually purchasing something from your web site are slim to none. Therefore, the best solution to increasing your sales is to buy visitors and targeted traffic. Many people are under the false impression that generating traffic to their web site is all it takes, because no traffic equals zero sales. This may be true, but, as has been said before, you have no guarantee that your visitors will also make any purchases, unless we are talking about targeted traffic.

Why buy web site traffic when we all know that there are so many ways of advertising your online business, which are absolutely free and will eventually generate traffic to your web site? The answer ifs once again very simple. The difference between free traffic and paid traffic is that, with the latter, the number and quality of visitors to your web site is superior by far. Free advertising requires time, effort and patience and often comes with very little payoff, whereas if you choose to buy web traffic, you will soon enjoy all the benefits of having a considerably larger number of customers who are actually interested in the products or services you provide. You can buy web site traffic online and chose from several types of packages, depending on your specific traffic requirements. The daunting task of generating quality traffic to your web site is as good as gone if you buy traffic.

Buy Website traffic Or Build Website traffic

When it comes to generating traffic for a website there are essentially two methods – buying or building. In either case, the important aspect is that the traffic targeted to both the content you provide and the product or service that you offer. Both methods have their advantages and disadvantages and can be combined into an effective online business marketing mix used to generate sales and improve conversions.

Buying Traffic

There are many methods of buying traffic for a website. Any form of online marketing that guarantees an amount of traffic, or number of clicks to your website, for a set amount of money can be considered buying traffic. This rigidity can provide a transparent method to increase website visibility and track your marketing ROI but the impetus should always be on finding sources of targeted traffic.

The Benefits

From Pay per click (PPC) advertising to any other method of buying website traffic, one of the biggest benefits is its transparency. A website owner knows exactly how much they will need to spend in order to generate a specific amount of traffic. This allows for the accurate assessment of ROI and enables you, as a vigilant website owner and marketer, to sort the profitable wheat from the costly chaff. Methods such as PPC can generate traffic immediately, even for the newer website.

The Pitfalls

Unless managed properly, buying website traffic can be a very costly business. Many sources of website traffic pay little heed to how well targeted that traffic is, and poorly targeted traffic will not generate good net results. That is, your website will generate more traffic but you will not see an improvement in sales and your website ROI is more likely to take a significant tumble than a marked increase.

Building Traffic

Building traffic is a more organic approach and is most typically associated with SEO, or Search engine optimisation. By optimising a website or by becoming an active member in online social communities it is possible to build seemingly limitless supplies of traffic. The long term success of building traffic can see your website traffic continue to increase long after you have put in the initial leg work.

The benefits

Effective traffic building techniques, that specifically generate targeted traffic, can continue to generate new visitors over an extended period of time. While it does require continued work to generate a regular stream of incoming visitors, many methods of building traffic can help improve your website visibility, generate positive website branding, and give a very generous marketing ROI.

The Pitfalls

These methods can build a lot of long term traffic for comparatively little investment. However, short term gains are generally quite small and require a lot of work in the first place to build up a solid basis to work from. Some ongoing work is required in order to continue to generate the best results and to continue to increase traffic levels above and beyond those that are first created. Finally, there are no guarantees; no minimum and no maximum gains that can be achieved through these forms of building traffic.

Combining The two

Buying and building traffic both have their advantages, and are certainly not mutually exclusive. A website can benefit from PPC as well as SEO and SMO traffic generation in a powerful marketing mix. This combination can provide excellent early traffic results as well as continued generation of new visitors and it can even encompass very powerful website branding.

Website traffic Bootcamp Review – Is Website traffic Bootcamp the answer to Low Traffic?

If you’re asking yourself, “how do i start getting traffic to my website? ” or “how do i get more traffic to my website”, then you have come to the right place. I think all online marketers agree that traffic is one of the most essential elements for success.

You can build hundreds or thousands of websites and make them very attractive with some advanced graphics, but they all will just be invisible without traffic. So, without a doubt, traffic is the lifeline of any website.

Is Website traffic Bootcamp the answer?

I will tell you everything you need to know about Website traffic Bootcamp in this review. After reading through it, you should be able to make an informed decision.

However, before I start, let me tell you that this product is not perfect, there are things I do not like about this product and I will elaborate on this later on.

Website Traffic Bootcamp is a high quality video based training course that is designed to help you master web traffic generation skills. It consists of 12 modules covering both free and paid traffic generation methods. You will learn methods like SEO, PPC, link building, Web 2. 0, JV, viral marketing, article marketing, ezine marketing, and master resell rights.

Do the methods really work?

All these methods of generating traffic on the web are not new at all. However, if you were to learn them from a book, it would be very difficult because you really need to know Exactly how to do it. This is where the Website Traffic Bootcamp course shines, watching the videos is like sitting beside a master while he shows you step by step how to master the skills. So, the answer is yes, the methods do work. What you need to do is just follow the instructions in the videos.

Who can benefit from Website traffic Bootcamp course?

If you have a website or blog, and you’re getting less than 200 unique visitors each day, then you need this course. Just apply one strategy at a time, viral marketing for instance, you’ll experience a marked increase in traffic to your site or blog, in just a few days! In my case, when i use the viral marketing strategy taught in the course, I’m able to increase one of my new blog’s traffic from 20 unique visitors to 200+ visitors. That’s is more than 1000% increase! It really amazed me!

What I do not like about Website traffic Bootcamp?

I have seen some similar products that cost up to $200 that do not offer half the value that WTB is offering for a fraction of the cost. I’m quite satisfied with the overall quality and value of the course so far.

However, there are some things that i do not like about WTB. Firstly, you can’t watch the videos online. You need to download all of them into your pc to watch them and it will take a while to download all those files. So, be patient when you’re downloading them.

Secondly, while the traffic generation methods and strategies covered in this course have been proven to work, it doesn’t mean that you will make money online. Because getting traffic to your site or blog is one thing, converting them into money is another. Traffic generation and conversion are two different things.

To ensure that the traffic you generate is monetizable, you need to be in the right niche or market. It’s beyond the scope of this article to discuss about niche market selection. However, I have included some great bonuses that will teach you how to do just that. The bonuses also complement very well with the website Traffic Bootcamp course (see link below).

Understand Driving record Points, Auto insurance and Traffic School

Driving record Points & Hearings

Drivers who violate enough traffic laws to accumulate enough points to potentially lose their license are permitted to partake in a hearing before a hearing officer. During the hearing, the driver can provide pertinent information about his prior traffic violations and explain why he performed such actions. He’ll also have the opportunity to tell the hearing officer why he didn’t contest certain traffic tickets. A driver who faces the prospect of losing his license should embrace the hearing as an opportunity to explain how he’s being proactive to develop better driving skills.

If you find yourself in such a situation and you drive with a high frequency, point out your yearly mileage to the hearing officer. Then explain that your frequent driving is part of the reason why you’ve accumulated so many tickets. If your line of work requires that you drive extensively, you should also make note of that. If you are the head of your household and drive your children and spouse on a frequent basis, make a note of it at your hearing. Shedding light on all of these factors may go a long way in helping you hold onto your license. If your license is revoked, be patient. You must wait before reapplying for a license. Once eligible, you might be required to pass the driver’s license exam or participate in a reinstatement hearing.

Insurance

Most insurance companies permit a single moving violation across a 3 to 5 year span, though the specifics of these standards differ by state laws and unique insurance company policies. Drivers who accumulate more than one moving violation in this time period will face hiked automobile insurance premiums. If you are in an automobile accident, your premiums will likely increase. However, if you’ve been ticketed, you can potentially avoid a premium hike by contesting the ticket or by participating in traffic school.

Traffic School

A driver who pays his ticket and successfully completes traffic school will not accumulate points from the traffic offense. The course requires 6 to 8 hours of time and a fee but it is better than the alternative. An increase in your automobile insurance rates will likely be much more costly than the cost of the course and the time that it requires.

While it requires a time investment, it is a better strategy to avoid points on your license in comparison to contesting the ticket in traffic court. Each jurisdiction has a unique traffic school policy. Some only permit drivers to attend traffic school one time per year while other jurisdictions will only allow drivers to participate once every two years. It is also important to note that certain jurisdictions have laws that bar drivers from attending traffic school if they are caught speeding 15 miles per hour above the speed limit.

Certain states mandate that drivers enroll in a traffic school course by meeting with a court clerk or by appearing in front of a judge. Some permit drivers to participate in an online version of traffic school. Don’t immediately discount traffic school as a boring experience that won’t hold your interest. Many traffic schools have taken great measures to become more marketable in order to entice potential customers. Some take an entertaining or humorous approach that will keep participants actively engaged with the typically dry subject matter across the course’s 6 to 8 hours.

Ways to Control Traffic Speed With Traffic Signs

It’s hard to imagine that when cars first made it to market, there weren’t many traffic laws. In fact, speed limits weren’t even developed. Without speed limits and proper traffic laws, roads became chaotic and dangerous. Today, however, our world couldn’t exist without proper traffic control. Traffic is most often controlled by the implementation of speed limits and bumps, to ensure that cars are traveling at safe limits. To reinforce these traffic control mechanisms, acceleration limit signs and bump signs are necessary.

Traffic Limits and Speed Bump Traffic Signs

If you’ve ever been pulled over for speeding, you know that one of the first questions law enforcement will ask you is if you saw the posted speed limit signs. Whether you saw the signs or not, those signs are posted in order to alert you to what has been determined to be a safe speed at which you can travel on that particular road. In addition, if a traffic limit changes as you are traveling, these traffic signs inform you of new speed limits. Not only are acceleration limit traffic signs important for controlling traffic speeds, but they also end up keeping drivers safer.

Another great way to reinforce traffic safety is to use speed bumps. Although you won’t find speed bumps on any highways, you will find them on side streets and even some main roads. Speed bumps are designed to cause drivers to slow down in order to pass safely. Although the bump itself is used as a method to calm traffic, without proper warning of an upcoming speed bump, there might be more damage caused than without the speed bump. This is because speed bumps create a lot of noise and damage to cars if they don’t pass over the bump at a slow speed. That’s why traffic bump traffic signs are essential. With proper warning of a change in upcoming road conditions, drivers will slow down to a safe speed.

It’s easy to understand why proper traffic control is needed in order to prevent accidents. Traffic limits and bump traffic signs are just two ways to ensure that everyone travels your roads at the safest speeds.

City’s Traffic Light Camera Appeal Denied

Finally, a small victory for the little guy! It comes as no surprise to anyone that red light traffic cameras are an increasing annoyance to everyone except the municipalities who use them and the private companies that make a fortune off of installing and then maintaining them. Like many other traffic laws in Florida, traffic cameras serve one purpose and one purpose only – to continue to line the pockets of local politicians. Yes, we all know that proponents of red light traffic cameras espouse that their purpose is to advance public safety. Well, I am not buying it. As a traffic ticket attorney, I have seen too many instances where drivers have gotten traffic tickets when they weren’t even moving. Additionally, the knowledge that these cameras are the livelihood of private companies who have a major financial interest in advocating their use bolsters my skepticism.

Although the constitutionality of using these red light traffic cameras has been challenged in the court systems ever since their inception, recent news gives drivers, and traffic ticket attorneys, hope that they may be on their way out. On October 15, a three-judge panel for the Fourth District Court of Appeals denied the appeal of the City of Hollywood to have an earlier decision overturned. The previous matter supported Eric Arem’s claim that the issuance of citations by a private company is not permissible under Florida state law, which was then supported by the appeals panel reinforcing that state law does not permit private companies to issue traffic citations. Yet individual municipalities hire private companies, one Arizona-based company in particular, to install and maintain red light traffic ticket cameras. This results in a fiscally symbiotic relationship for both parties.

Drivers are surely elated at this development, but it does pave the way for many unanswered questions. Surely, one question that is in the forefront of most drivers’ minds is whether or not traffic tickets will still be issued in South Florida as a result of red light traffic cameras. It is not an easy question to answer because, although some towns have done away with traffic cameras, this most recent ruling pertaining to Hollywood is not yet carved in stone. According to Hollywood spokesperson, Raelin Storey, there is still a possibility that there may be a rehearing or it can be appealed before the Florida Supreme Court.

“This case has the potential to impact a number of cities that contract with (#(… the Arizona company), ” Storey said. “If the administration of the program has to change dramatically, we would, of course, have to evaluate whether we can continue to afford to operate it. ”

The determination made by the appellate court ruling states, “Such outsourcing to a third-party… for red light camera violations is contrary to the plain wording of the Florida statutes. ” This “plain wording” provision prevents cities and municipalities from applying their own interpretation of law, thereby ensuring uniformity throughout the state in the application of traffic laws and the fines and penalties that arise from traffic violations.

This is far from the first time that the use of red light traffic cameras has been a matter of controversy. Back in June, a court ruled that several other Florida towns side-stepped Florida state law by the use of traffic light cameras prior to July 1, 2010 when the State Legislature approved the use of these cameras. The continued push to repeal or restrict the use of these cameras has met with resistance by those who support them and by safety studies being impeded in the State Legislature.

This recent ruling may have been aimed at Hollywood, but other towns such as Hallendale Beach and Hialeah have already done away with the unpopular red light traffic cameras. In light of all of this controversy, it’s not surprising to learn that many other cities are actively trying to circumvent similar issues from occurring. Additionally, the list of South Florida towns that are suspending the use of red light traffic cameras pending further action by the courts continues to grow.

“We have to be prudent, ” Palm Beach County Attorney Denise Nieman said regarding that county’s decision to temporarily suspend their traffic camera program.

Unfortunately for drivers, each city still gets to choose whether or not to use these traffic cameras. Although the argument for doing so is that they reduce accidents, the fine for committing a red light camera violation is $158. With over 900 traffic cameras installed in Florida, most of which are in South Florida, this practice has generated over 750, 000 traffic tickets and more than $119 million in fines.

A large portion of that revenue goes to the company that installs the cameras and generates the traffic tickets. This makes it obvious that this is more about being a profit-generating business than about any genuine interest in reducing accidents. After all, what better way to cover budgetary shortfalls than under the guise of concern for the public welfare? Of course, the private company’s website also touts how they are improving safety for the public’s own good, but you will be hard pressed to see anything posted there as to how lucrative this business has become for them.

In what would appear to be a frantic effort, the Arizona company that provides these traffic cameras to Hollywood claims that it can change the way they issue the traffic tickets. Why wouldn’t they scramble to come up with an alternative? In 2013 and 2014 alone, this particular company has gleaned a large percentage of roughly $28, 000, 000 that the State of Florida has paid to the traffic camera vendors.

Even though the debate regarding the legality and efficacy of traffic cameras continues to rage, no other precedent exists so this recent is ruling is now case law, at least for the time being. As such, it will hopefully pave the way for more municipalities to consider the legal ramifications of having the cameras installed and maintained. As long as they continue to be profitable, it’s likely that local governments will try to justify their existence. Eliminating the profit margin by doing away with third-party issued traffic tickets and fighting these erroneous traffic tickets in court are the best way to ensure a fairer playing field when red light traffic tickets are issued. In many cases, it is possible that refunds are due to motorists who have received red light traffic camera citations.

Construction Zone Traffic Laws

In order to prepare for increased motor traffic during the summer months, the state of Missouri has already started increasing levels of construction and maintenance road work.

There are several important traffic laws to reiterate to drivers to keep everyone safe during this construction season.

Making Merging Move Faster

Merging lanes of traffic on a highway or interstate can be very frustrating for drivers, especially during rush hours and in dense traffic areas. The best way to merge when the roadways are not busy is to merge into the open lane as soon as warning signs start to appear. However, in very congested traffic areas, it is much more efficient to merge in a zipper form at the destination of the merge area in order to reduce traffic build up.

Endangering a Highway Worker

The Highway Work Zone Law was implemented to regulate the crime of endangering a highway worker. If any person creates an offense that endangers a highway worker, but does not injure or take the life of the worker, a maximum fine of $1, 000 and four points will be added to the driver’s license.

If the highway worker is injured, the offender shall be fined a maximum of $5, 000 and have 12 points assessed to his or her license. However, if the offender takes the life of the highway worker, the offender shall be fined a maximum of $10, 000 and have 12 points assessed to his or her license.

Fines and Penalties

The Highway Work Zone Law also increased several of the most recurring offenses’ penalties in order to help protect highway workers. The law states that a person who is convicted more than once with a moving violation will be subject to a penalty of $75.

In addition, the law states that a fine of $300 can be assessed to any person with multiple charges of speeding or passing of another vehicle in any work zone with a worker present (http://www.modot.org/workzones/).

The 2012 “Move Over” law

In 2012, Missouri implemented a law that requires motorists to slow down or move into the other lane when coming upon any sort of parked emergency, law enforcement, or Missouri Department of Transportation vehicle.

This law helps protect both the workers in the parked vehicles as well as the people driving by as it significantly decreases the risk of an accident occurring.

Following these traffic laws and making sure to pay attention in work zones can help make the roads safer for everyone during this construction season.
